One
of the main themes in BDSM is the concept of slavery, which
is an idea that falls squarely within the dualism of Dominance
and submission. This concept naturally divides the population
into two categories: the Dominant and submissive, the Owner
and the owned. This is reinforced on Le Jardin Mystique
(LJM) within its class system which consists of Free Citizens
(Dominants and Owners) and slaves (submissives and the owned).
For those who are new to BDSM as well as to clarify how
LJM's system works to those more familiar, the following
explanations of the dichotomy of Citizen and slave is given:
- Free
Citizens are those who are Dominants, Owners, or those
who do not wish to be owned. They are allowed to own property,
build freely, and receive weekly payments from the Bank.
- Slaves
-are- property. They may not own property, build freely
without consent, or receive money from the Bank. No real
estate, objects, or lodging, will be kept as property
by a slave. A slave may be owned by a Citizen or a group
of Citizens. A slave may build property for their owner(s)
and have lodging and/or possessions allowed with consent
from their owner(s) but may not have any otherwise.
The
role of the slave:
Slaves, by choosing to be so (OOCly), have elected to deal
with the following possible consequences of that choice:
- To
be owned, sold, bought, freed, etc.
- To
be used, loved, neglected, etc.
- To
live as a second class citizen.
- To
be unable to own property, build, or gain money from the
Bank.
As
to the question of being owned upon arrival to this world,
a few possibilities exist:
- Option
one: To be unowned and unattached. For those in our population
who are slaves, you should have slave tags readily visible.
The best way to handle this so everyone can see it is
to use the registry program. Use 'registry #help' (without
quotes) for info. You will be expected to take up lodging
in the Ruby Road Hostel, found one block south of La Place
de Jardin. These slaves have no IC protection from any
source, and must fend for themselves. All players have
equal OOC protection.
- Option
two: To be owned by a Citizen. There are a number of ways
to accomplish this. A slave could be owned upon arrival
to this world, if a Citizen claims them as their property
within a week of the slave's arrival. In this case, the
Citizen informs the Procurement Officer of the proposed
arrangement. The Procurement Officer then verifies OOC
consent from both parties, and upon receipt of consent,
will register the arrangement as legal at no cost to the
Citizen.
