Setting
up your character
The
best way to set yourself up with a description, sex, species,
scent, etc., is with the
editplayer
command
(editplayer
#help for
very short, uninformative help).
Wading
in and mucking about (no pun intended) is the fastest and
easiest way to learn the format. Typing in editplayer
will
bring you into a command menu. Each option is numbered.
Entering a number will either prompt you for an entry, or
toggle an option on or off. Option 2, for example, lets
you enter an MPI-driven description, complete with look-notify
(which tells you if people are checking you out), in one
easy step. Other options let you decide if you fly, if you
can be handed items, what species you are, what sex you
are, etc. Here's a simple walkthrough on setting your description
using editplayer ( red colored
text
indicated commands you type, purple
colored text indicates what menus appear on your
screen). Let's
say your character name is Bob. Once you logon, do the following:
editplayer
Your
name is Bob.
2. Your description is ''
3. Your sex is ''.
4. Your species is ''.
5. You can throw items.
6. Your home is New Player Room(#64).
7. You can NOT hand/be handed items.
8. You can NOT fly.
9. Your smell message is ''.
10. When you speak you see 'You [...]'.
11. When you speak others see 'Bob [...]'.
12. Edit sweep messages.
Enter '2' through '12', or 'Q' to QUIT.

you like to convert this description to standard MPI (this
may not work for complex MPI or MUF-based descriptions)?

Bob
wears bib overalls and a straw hat and looks kind of simple
like. He has a tattoo of a Twinkie on his left shoulder
and wears a NASCAR T-shirt.
He looks sexy in that simple farmhand type of way. His skin
is tan and his form is muscular, like he's been throwing
bales of hay for years.
[note:
hitting the "enter" key means you have written
one line, no matter how long it appears. The above description,
then, is only two lines]

You
have now successfully described yourself. Of course, you'll
want to go through each option and set it as appropriate
for your character. NOTE: It is strongly recommended you
keep a copy of your character descriptions in notepad or
vi or whatever text editor you choose and save it to your
hard drive. You can also cut/paste text from your editor
into the editplayer editor for ease and convenience.
Below
are a few commands and instructions that aid greatly in
telling others in the world what your story is, your interests,
your kinks, as well as what type of person you are. There
are three main commands that help move this along, they
are:
wixxx,
whatisz,
and
pinfo
Each
of these commands is accessible by typing the command name
and #help, thusly:
wixxx #help,
wi #help (for whatisz), and pinfo
#help. Each gives a more complete explanation
of its use, and each will be briefly summarized here.
- wixxx:
Wixxx is a self-written set of flags declaring your personal
preferences. Check wixxx
#help for help, wixxx
#flags for a list of flags (also, see below
for a completre list of flags).
- whatisz:
(may be truncated to wi) whatisz is similar to wixxx,
but far less related to sex and kinks, and geared toward
character traits. Check wi
#flags for flags (also listed below), and wi
#help for more detailed help on setting those
flags.
- pinfo:
Player Info, pinfo for short, is essentially a place for
you to write small snippets about yourself, both IC and
OOC, so other people can get a better feel for your background,
interests, residence, etc. Check pinfo
#fields (also below) for a list of available
fields (sorry, no custom fields) and pinfo #help for detailed
help.
Other
players may then see your information by typing any of the
three commands, then your name like this: wixxx
Bob, wi
Bob, or pinfo
Bob.
